We are currently hiring for multiple opportunities for Tax Examining Clerks/Technicians in the IRS Taxpayer Services Division.
Job Description
- As a Tax Examining Clerk/Technician, your duties include researching various sources, analyzing tax issues, and initiating actions to correct accounts and records.
- You will also secure payment of delinquent taxes, file delinquent returns, and determine financial information for taxpayers.
- May serve as a technical advisor, OJT coach, classroom instructor, or reviewer, providing technical assistance on systemic problems and inconsistencies in IRMs.
Career Progression
This position has career progression. If selected at a grade level lower than the full working level, you may be non-competitively promoted as your career progresses.
Qualifications
- Federal experience is not required to qualify for any of the grade levels identified below.
- You will qualify for one of the following opportunities based on your specialized experience and/or education.
Experience Requirements
- For the GS-04 grade level:
- General experience includes progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the competencies needed to perform the duties of the position.
- You may substitute education for specialized experience as follows: two (2) years of education above the high school level in an accredited junior college, college, university, business, secretarial, or technical school.
- You may qualify by a combination of experience and education.
Specialized Experience
- For the GS-05 grade level:
- You must have one (1) year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service.
- Specialized experience includes experience performing miscellaneous tasks involving researching and processing financial documents, reviewing information, and determining corrective action on accounts.
- You may substitute education for specialized experience as follows: four (4) years of education above high school in any field of study from an accredited college or university.
- You may qualify by a combination of experience and education.
