The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) is seeking highly dependable and skilled individuals to fill multiple positions as Tax Examining Clerks/Technicians in the IRS Taxpayer Services Division.
About the Role:
As a Tax Examining Clerk/Technician, you will play a critical role in resolving tax issues for hardworking Americans and their communities. Your duties will include researching various sources, analyzing data, and initiating actions on tax issues, as well as verifying and adjusting taxpayer accounts. You will also secure payment of delinquent taxes and file delinquent returns, and provide technical assistance on systemic problems and inconsistencies in IRMs.
Responsibilities:
• Researching and analyzing various sources, including financial documents and tax returns, to resolve tax issues
• Verifying and adjusting taxpayer accounts to ensure accuracy and compliance with tax laws
• Securing payment of delinquent taxes and filing delinquent returns
• Providing technical assistance on systemic problems and inconsistencies in IRMs
Requirements:
• Federal experience is not required to qualify for this position
• Must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service
• Qualifying experience includes experience performing miscellaneous tasks involving researching and processing financial documents, reviewing information, and determining corrective action on accounts
• May substitute education for specialized experience
