Job Description:
We are hiring for multiple opportunities in various locations, including Kansas City, MO; Austin, TX; and Ogden, UT. As a Tax Examining Clerk/Technician, your duties will include:
- Researching sources, analyzing data, and taking actions on tax issues, including obtaining returns, schedules, and information for correction of accounts and records.
- Securing payment of delinquent taxes and filing of delinquent returns. Determining financial, levy source, adjustment, and uncollectible information; advising taxpayers of appeal procedures.
- Providing technical assistance on systemic problems and inconsistencies in IRMs.
This is a seasonal position, typically 4-6 months or 6-8 months, with career progression opportunities. You may be non-competitively promoted as your career progresses. For example, you may be hired as a GS-04, but if the position has career progression to GS-06, then you may move from a GS-04 to a GS-06 in as little as two (2) years.
To qualify, you must have specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service. Examples of qualifying experience include performing miscellaneous tasks involving researching and processing financial documents, reviewing information and determining corrective action on accounts, and reviewing financial documents submitted for completeness.
