SCIENTIFIC PROGRAM MANAGER
(THORACIC CANCER STAGING/CLINICAL SCIENCE)
Job Summary:
The International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC) is seeking a mission-oriented Scientific Program Manager with exceptional communication skills to join the Scientific Affairs team. This position will work with global scientists and healthcare professionals to advance collaborative science on thoracic cancers. The Scientific Program Manager will primarily support the 10th edition of IASLC’s lung cancer, thymic cancer, and mesothelioma staging projects. They will also help support the Multidisciplinary Clinical Science Committee and associated research projects.
This full-time, exempt, supervisory position reports to the Chief Science Officer and works a hybrid schedule out of our downtown Denver, Colorado office.
Essential Functions:
- Work with IASLC membership to develop and implement scientific programs, research projects, and education to advance collaborative science in thoracic cancer.
- Serve as the staff liaison to the Staging and Prognostic Factors Working Group and associated subcommittees and advisory groups, providing project management and administrative support.
- Manage the entire life cycle of the 10th Edition Staging project in collaboration with IASLC volunteer leadership, including development of clinical protocols, identification of sites, execution of data sharing agreements, data collection, analysis, status reporting to leadership and stakeholders, results/deliverable dissemination, and program evaluation.
- Supervise and mentor the Scientific Affairs Coordinator to effectively meet goals and support Staging project outcomes.
- Support other committees and advisory groups (such as the Multidisciplinary Clinical Science Committee) providing project management and administrative support as needed.
- Communicate scientific and medical content to a variety of audiences including healthcare professionals, scientists, and people with lung cancer and their loved ones.
- Support the preparation, writing, and review of scientific and medical content for grants, proposals, website, project materials, manuscripts, and publications.
- Help develop, execute, and manage budgets, contracts, and data use agreements.
- Proactively implement organizational and project management tools and software to increase work efficiency and standardize departmental processes and workflows.
- Assist with the design and execution of new scientific research projects.
- Provide exceptional member service and overall support to IASLC members, partners, and stakeholders.
- Stay current on recent advances and emerging trends in thoracic oncology research and treatments.
- Serve as a scientific content resource for association staff.
- Attend and participate in scientific activities at IASLC-sponsored meetings and events, as assigned.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- A strong commitment to the mission of IASLC and compassion for those living with a lung cancer diagnosis.
- Graduate degree in a scientific, public health, or healthcare field; advanced degree (PhD, PharmD, or relevant education) preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience in a project management or healthcare administration role.
- 2 years of supervisory experience
- Demonstrated ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple scientific committees and/or projects, including all deliverables, including project timelines, schedules, and documentation.
- Proficiency in using technology such as Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, virtual meeting platforms, and project management software with ability to learn additional software quickly and effectively.
- Ability to work flexible hours when required.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally in support of IASLC business needs.
- Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Scientific or medical background or knowledge in lung cancer or oncology strongly preferred.
- Previous work experience in a nonprofit, scientific, medical, research or academic organization.
- Project management experience or certification a plus.
- International experience and multicultural sensitivity.
- Multilingual fluency and/or literacy a plus.

Compensation: $75,000-$85,000 annually, depending on education and experience.
