The Need
For over 25 years, IJM has pioneered the work to protect vulnerable people from violence. 9 out of 9 times in the last decade, IJM’s Justice System Strengthening Projects have reduced slavery and violence between 50 and 85% for very large populations of people in poverty. As we grow to expand our impact to protect 500 million people from violence, we are seeking a Vice President of IT Operations.
The Vice President of IT Operations will be a critical voice on the Global Technology Solutions leadership team and will direct a global team to ensure the availability and usability of global infrastructure and systems, while providing optimal and responsive end-user support services across IJM.
This position is based in the Washington, DC area and is available to be hybrid (onsite Tuesdays & Thursdays). It reports to the Chief Information Officer and is only available for candidates with the right to work in the US.
Responsibilities:
Leadership and Management: Responsibilities to communicate, drive organizational vision and strategies, and foster IJM’s culture of spiritual health and integrity. Tasks include overseeing safety and security of team members, management and development of team members, crisis management, financial stewardship and management, and contributing to initiatives and processes. For people management positions, this category is mandatory, and tasks must align with the advancement of IJM’s theory of change.
Execute on a new global support model for IT support services, desktop & mobile management, and identity services in order to provide 8am-5pm customer support in all IJM locations and 24/7 monitoring of cyber security and infrastructure;
Partner with GTS Leadership team to build IJM’s aggressive technology roadmap to achieve programmatic outcomes and enable long- term global growth;
Rapidly mature Global IT service organization including Service Desk, Infrastructure, Collaboration and Project Management teams.
Ensure the health and vibrancy of the Global IT Operations team through mature spiritual leadership and appropriate professional mentoring, including the successful recruitment and onboarding of high caliber GTS professionals during this period of exponential growth;
Establish and monitor Global IT Operations plans, results and budget;
Build collaborative relationships with our IT vendors to ensure services are delivered in a cost-effective manner;
Actively participate in the development and management of business strategy focusing on how our technology strategy can support and enhance IJM operations;
Foster an engaged work environment within the global team, encouraging accountability, open communication, teamwork, and a commitment to serving the customer;
Collaborate with IJM Global, Regional, and International Advancement Office leaders to maximize the use of technology to improve products and processes that enhance the strategic direction of the organization;
Advocate for the development of innovative processes and global support structures to allow the organization to be more agile, supportive of the global systems being implemented over the next three years;
Provide technical recommendations on the development of IJM’s Global Shared IT service models, Regionalized support structures, Cloud-first technology models, Dev Ops, Automation, and Cyber Security capabilities;
Maintain awareness and knowledge of new technologies that can enhance IJM's operational excellence.
Technology Operations:
Deliver protocols and best practices for computing and storage, networks, cloud services, server administration, backup operations, office moves in order to establish foundational global IT Infrastructure
Ensure robust availability of IJM technology systems for all Global, Regional, and International Advancement Office staff;
Provide essential technology improvements that support the modern workplace and hybrid working models, such as collaboration platforms, videoconferencing, document storage, in order to increase staff productivity across the globe;
Manage global technology purchasing, contract, vendor, offshore and partner management in order to maximize the value to the global business and reduce cost;
Establish and monitor metrics to demonstrate the performance and responsiveness of systems for all IJM Global, Regional, and International Advancement offices;
Define and communicate corporate plans, policies, and standards for acquiring, implementing, and operating IT systems;
Continually improves IT operations by measuring performance compared to industry and internally developed standards and developing strategies for incremental improvement;
Develops business case justifications and cost/benefit analyses for IT spending and initiatives;
Maintains up-to-date knowledge of technology standards, industry trends, emerging technologies and software development practices.
Qualifications:
Experience
Masters’ degree in MBA or Computer Science, or any equivalent combination of education, experience, and certification
15 years professional experience
10 years leading IT Operations support in global organizations
8 years of experience with cloud-based infrastructure
5 years managing a team of 10 or more IT staff, including remote contingents
Technical Competencies
Demonstrated experience leading rapid transformations to scale organizations;
Proven experience providing technology solutions in emerging markets;
Proven experience in managing system lifecycles;
Proven experience project management, strategic planning and budgeting;
Operational and design proficiencies in Public Cloud Infrastructure & Services, Network Infrastructure, Microsoft Server 2008 and later, Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft 365 (Including SharePoint & Teams), Mobile Device Management, and Identity Management solutions.
Proven experience with cloud infrastructure & platforms with preferred experience with Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365; and
Bi-lingual English and (Spanish, German, or a language spoken in an IJM office) preferred.
