Position Details
- What kind of position/job is this? This is a full-time position within the VCF Resource Operations Management Enablement. (ROME)
- Where is the job located? The role can be based in any of the Group R&D locations – Munich (Germany), Södertälje (Sweden), Lisle, Illinois / Rochester Hills, MI (USA), Sao Paulo/Resende (Brazil) depending on the candidate’s preference and location
- Who will I be reporting to? Functional reporting line: Michael Thel, Domain Head of Digital Engineering Solutions | Operational Excellence

Responsibilities
In the role as System Architect of ROME, you will implement the C-Place Portfolio Management application (MAN standard) at Group-level. This tool will enable global resource management for TRATON R&D and BID organizations. It will be integrated with SAP S4 Hana ERP application to enable accurate and timely financial reporting for R&D.
To ensure that you will:
- Design and oversee the technical architecture for implementing the C-Place Portfolio Management application, ensuring compatibility and seamless integration with SAP S4 Hana ERP for efficient global resource and financial management within TRATON R&D and BID organizations
- Collaborate closely with stakeholders across R&D, finance, and IT departments to identify architectural requirements, standardize processes, and ensure data consistency and integrity between C-Place and SAP S4 Hana systems
- Develop and maintain a clear roadmap for future architectural enhancements of the C-Place application, proactively incorporating additional capabilities and integrations in alignment with evolving business requirements and MAN standard practices
As the System Architect of ROME is part of the TRATON Group, you will collaborate closely with all four brands—Scania, MAN, International, and Volkswagen Truck & Bus. In your role, it will be essential to maintain a broad Group perspective while effectively addressing the specific needs of each brand.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science
- At least 8 years of experience in product design/development and/or computer science experience
- At least 2 years of experience managing technical professionals and technical staff in engineering and design activities
OR
- Master's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science
- At least 6 years of experience in product design/development and/or computer science experience
- At least 2 years of experience managing technical professionals and technical staff in engineering and design activities
OR
- PhD in Engineering , Engineering Technology or Computer Science
- At least 4 years of experience in product design/development and/or computer science experience
- At least 2 years of experience managing technical professionals and technical staff in engineering and design activities
Additional Requirements
Qualified candidates, excluding current employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. Desired Skills
- Experience, ideally in system architecture, IT application integration, portfolio or resource management tools, or related areas within the automotive, transportation, or IT industry, preferably involving ERP integration and agile methodologies
- Proven leadership experience in managing teams and driving projects in complex, global, matrix organizations
- Team player with intercultural competencies and experience in an international environment
- Excellent communication, organizational, and personal management skills with a proven ability to coordinate tasks effectively
- Fluency in written and spoken English for effective communication with a global audience; knowledge of Swedish, Portuguese or German is a plus
- Proficiency in MS Office, particularly in PowerPoint and Excel
