Description
The Learning & Development (L&D) Specialist is responsible for designing and developing comprehensive learning solutions, with a strong focus on instructional design. This includes developing onboarding and ongoing training programs for internal teams such as Wholesale Operations, Underwriters, and Account Managers. The L&D Specialist will create a variety of training materials, including eLearning modules, instructor-led training, performer support, and assessments, ensuring all content is engaging, modern, and tailored to business needs.

In addition to training content development, the role will lead new hire onboarding, ensuring a seamless transition from general company onboarding to role-specific training. This includes conducting onboarding sessions, maintaining onboarding web-content, developing role-specific templates for business teams, reviewing and updating content, and evaluating content effectiveness.

The ideal candidate must possess learner-centric approaches designed to drive key performance metrics and be tech-savvy with AI-driven tools, video editing, e-learning platforms, and multimedia software. A strong understanding of learning disciplines, instructional design, and measurement strategies is critical, as is the ability to visually present content effectively, communicate ideas clearly, and assess impact using data.

Responsibilities and Duties:
Instructional Design & Content Development

  • Design, develop, and maintain instructional materials such as eLearning modules, interactive training materials, job aids, and digital content for both onboarding and ongoing training, with a focus on role-specific onboarding training requirements
  • Create training within structured learning pathways that supports employee career growth and competency development
  • Utilize AI tools, multimedia software, and digital platforms to create engaging, high-impact learning solutions for teams
  • Work closely with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to develop role-specific content and ensure training content is accurate, relevant, and aligned with organizational objectives
  • Ensure all learning content is visually compelling, easy to understand, scalable, and incorporates modern instructional design principles and adult learning theories

Onboarding & Employee Development

  • Lead and continuously improve the new hire onboarding process, ensuring a structured and effective transition into role-specific training for key teams such as underwriters and account managers.
  • Partner with managers and business leaders to ensure onboarding aligns with department-specific training needs and business goals.
  • Assess and refine onboarding content based on performance data, feedback, evolving business needs, and industry best practices.

Training Facilitation & Needs Assessment

  • Conduct learning needs and gap analyses to identify training needs and recommend targeted learning solutions.
  • Facilitate engaging training sessions as needed, particularly for new hires and teams requiring development in critical areas.
  • Stay up to date on L&D trends, industry best practices, and emerging learning technologies to continuously improve training programs.

Program Evaluation & Data Analysis

  • Measure the impact of training programs using performance data, employee feedback, and business metrics.
  • Provide insights and recommendations to improve learning outcomes and increase program effectiveness.

Administrative Tasks

  • Maintain onboarding actions, records and data.
  • Coordinate Learning Management System (LMS) updates, organize learning content, and generate reports on program performance.
  • Support other L&D initiatives with ad hoc administrative responsibilities, as needed.

Education and Experience:
  • 5 years of experience in adult learning & development, instructional design, or content creation.
  • Strong skills in instructional design, content development, and digital learning tools.
  • Experience with AI-driven learning tools, video editing, and eLearning platforms.
  • Proven ability to design, implement, and manage L&D solutions that align with business objectives and meet role-specific needs.
  • Excellent facilitation, communication, and project management skills.
  • Experience analyzing data and performance metrics to assess the effectiveness of training programs.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple priorities, and adapt to changing needs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with LMS platforms and eLearning development tools.
  • Background in UX/UI design for learning materials.
  • Experience in a corporate training environment, preferably in the financial services and/or mortgage industry.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple priorities, and adapt to changing business needs.
