What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lower School Librarian position at Iolani School?
Job Status : Full-time beginning in the 2025-2026 academic year, Exempt year-round position
The ideal candidate will have a Master’s degree in Library and Information Science or an equivalent School Librarian certification, along with a minimum of three years of elementary teaching experience. Preference will be given to candidates with prior experience in a school library, elementary-level teaching experience, and expertise in library collection management, library instruction, and the use and administration of Integrated Library Systems (ILS).
This role requires frequent collaboration with the other Lower School Librarian and Lower School teachers to create a dynamic, engaging library program that supports student learning. The ideal candidate will be passionate about school librarianship and dedicated to inspiring and supporting students to become critical thinkers, enthusiastic readers, skillful researchers, and ethical users of information. A strong commitment to fostering a love of reading and inquiry-based learning is essential.
