A valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation are required of a successful candidate. Ability to pass a criminal background screening test.

Responsibilities
Program Development & Delivery:
- Design, plan, and implement a variety of youth-focused programs, including after-school activities, summer camps, workshops, and special events.
- Assist with the creation and collection of program registrations, ensuring all participants are properly enrolled and informed.
- Coordinate schedules, logistics, and materials for all ANR and youth programs, grab and go educational kits, and events, ensuring smooth execution and high participant satisfaction.
- Coordinate farmland leasing and pesticide continuing education courses
- Promote inclusivity and diversity in program offerings, ensuring that all youth, regardless of background, have access to programs that meet their interests and needs.
- Provide on-site support during high-traffic events, such as the County Fair, 4-H Awards Banquet, Weigh-Ins and State Fair, to ensure smooth operations and program engagement.
- Cultivate and maintain positive relationships with public and private program partners, including schools, youth organizations, businesses, and community stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with all risk management policies, including volunteer background screenings, required training, and safety protocols.
- Administer data collection processes for programs via MyData and maintain accurate, up-to-date records as required by Madison County Extension Council and Iowa 4-H.
- Assist the Executive Director in securing financial resources, including identifying funding opportunities and tracking expenditures.
- Assist with the creation, editing, and distribution of press releases, newsletters, social media content, and other promotional materials to enhance program visibility and engagement.
- Support the expansion of the Master Gardener Program, including marketing efforts to attract new participants and volunteers.
- Oversee the administration of volunteer background screenings, agreements, and ongoing training, ensuring compliance with ISU Extension's volunteer policies.
- Manage the local Master Gardener program by overseeing recruitment, training, and certification of new Master Gardener volunteers
- Coordinate and schedule training classes in partnership with ISU Extension specialists and county coordinators. Ensure that training materials and educational resources are updated and relevant.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for Master Gardeners
- Maintain accurate records of volunteer activities, hours, and program outcomes in compliance with ISU Extension’s data management policies.
- Provide office reception support as needed, handling general inquiries and assisting with day-to-day administrative tasks.
- Provide Support and Guidance to the 4-H Foodstand
- Support County Youth 4-H Club Regulations
- Perform any other duties as assigned
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and data management software (MyData, Excel, etc.).
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed for events and programming.
- Comfortability working with small and large animals
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Education, Agricultural Sciences, Youth Development, or similar) preferred
- Experience in program coordination, volunteer management, and community outreach preferred
- Experience working with youth and volunteers in a programmatic setting (e.g., 4-H, Master Gardeners).
- Knowledge of agricultural and natural resource issues in Iowa.
- Experience with grant writing and securing program funding.
