Job Summary:
The Equipment Operator – Environmental & Access Solutions will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of heavy equipment in a safe and efficient manner. This position requires knowledge/experience of the Matting Industry, Right-Of-Way Construction, and Erosion and Sediment Control. The Equipment Operator will be required to work in all weather, including both extreme heat and cold environments. This position requires extensive travel across New York State, applicants must be able to travel up to 75% of the time. The salary for this position is $24 - $27 per hour.

- Must have a clear understanding of ground signals and maintain constant eye contact with ground personnel.
- Daily pre- and post- equipment inspections with appropriate documentation in compliance with company policies.
- Participate in routine maintenance, greasing, etc.
- Ensure heavy equipment is safely and securely stored.
- Must be able to operate equipment largely independently, self-directed and with minimal supervision, while adhering to safety standards.
- Maintain daily logs of equipment usage, maintenance, etc.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Three or more years of experience operating multiple types of heavy equipment on construction projects.
- Current OSHA 10 certification or the ability to obtain upon hire.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Must be able to wear necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
- Must be able to withstand exposure to all kinds of weather while completing work tasks such as rain, heat, sun, cold, and snow.
- Ability to travel out of town during the week or on weekends and work overtime as required.
- Knowledge of safety hazards on construction projects.
- Skill in reading and interpreting Access and Construction Plans.
- Valid driver’s license required, CDL preferred.
- Possess a current medical examiner’s certificate or the ability to pass a DOT physical.
- Ability to report to work at the designated location and start time.
