Job Summary:
The Log Truck Operator – Environmental & Access Solutions will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of prentice loader and / or lowboys in a safe and efficient manner. This position requires knowledge/experience with hauling heavy loads and FMCSA regulations. The Log Truck Operator will be required to work in all weather, including both extreme heat and cold environments. The salary for this position is $27 - $36 per hour depending on experience.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- The Log Truck Operator is responsible for truck inspection, proper working conditions, as well as necessary repairs to tools, trucks and other equipment. Requests major repairs or replacements when required.
- Maintains good housekeeping of truck and at worksite locations.
- Must have a clear understanding of ground signals and maintain constant eye contact with ground personnel.
- Daily pre- and post- equipment inspections with appropriate documentation in compliance with company policies.
- Must be able to operate equipment largely independently, self-directed and with minimal supervision, while adhering to safety standards.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Three or more years of experience operating log truck or lowboy.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Must be able to wear necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
- Must be able to withstand exposure to all kinds of weather while completing work tasks such as rain, heat, sun, cold, and snow.
- Ability to travel out of town during the week or on weekends and work overtime as required.
- Knowledge of safety hazards on construction projects.
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License required.
- Possess a current medical examiner’s certificate or the ability to pass a DOT physical.
- Ability to report to work at the designated location and start time.
