Description
Under the direction of the VP of Finance and Business Services, the Director of Finance is accountable for all fiscal and fiduciary responsibilities of GCC and subsidiaries, which includes oversight of finance, audit, and investment activities. The position collaborates with other directors to ensure integrity in all financial reporting and compliance with all regulatory bodies. This position gives financial information to directors and managers to facilitate consistent and meaningful progress toward furthering the GCC's mission.
- Oversee the dissemination of financial information to internal and external parties.
- Facilitate the month-end close process, overseeing and reviewing the work of the Account/Payroll Clerk.
- Oversee long-term budgetary planning and cost management. Develop and manage budgets in all areas of administration, operations, development, and programming.
- Implement, and monitor appropriate internal controls to ensure conformance and compliance with U.S. GAAP and other statutory requirements as well as ensure compliance with GCC’s Financial Accounting policy.
- Analyze information to assist management in the maximum impact of programming; make recommendations towards sound business decisions while ensuring compliance with GCC policies and procedures.
- Coordinate the annual independent audit and all governmental audits, including regulatory reporting requirements as necessary.
- Manage cash flow and forecasts. Maintain a reliable cash flow projection and reporting mechanism that includes minimum cash thresholds to meet operating needs. Optimize banking relationships and initiate appropriate strategies to enhance cash positions.
- Monitor investments and ensure compliance with investment policies.
- Under direction of the Senior Director of Business Services assist with coordinating matters
- related to risk management.
- Oversee and implement payroll tasks of organization.
- Assist in financial budgets and reporting for potential and awarded grants
- Set performance goals and coach and mentor direct report.
- Evaluate the performance of direct reports through GCC’s performance evaluation system.
- Encourage direct report’s professional development.
- Review and approve payroll-related transactions for direct and report as needed, including timecard review and approval, time-off request review and approval, etc.
- Perform to the standards of GCC’s leadership values and competencies.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration with an emphasis in accounting and finance required. Or extensive leadership experience may be substituted for the degree. A CPA license (Wisconsin)is strongly preferred, or successful completion of CPA exams preferred.
- A minimum of 5 years of work experience in accounting and finance.
- Extensive experience and knowledge of nonprofit accounting, including fund and grant accounting, tax regulations, compliance, and reporting.
- Thorough understanding of OMD Uniform Guidance.
- Mastery of Microsoft Office applications.
- Competence in working with ERP systems.
- Previous supervisory experience exceptional work ethic; ability to work independently.
