Purpose And Responsibilities
The Assistant Head of Lower School will work with and support the Head of Lower School in all aspects of divisional leadership and management. The position's responsibilities include:
- Establishing strong relationships with all members of the Lower School community.
- Setting and maintaining high expectations for teaching and learning.
- Promoting and modeling the School's Mission statement and the four core values of honesty, kindness, respect, and responsibility.
- Works with the Head of Lower School on student discipline and follow-through, monitoring performance, and behavior.
- Working with the Lower School Head to advance the School's academic and social emotional learning program.
- Serving as the coordinator and educational leader of the school's standardized testing and assessments.
- Supporting teachers in their day-to-day academic work through coaching and feedback.
- Supporting academic coaches in their work with students and teachers.
- Coordinating support for students through working with the student support team, including counselors, learning specialists, and teachers.
- Planning the special events that occur in the Lower School.
- In coordination with the Lower School Head, meeting with parents to discuss and address concerns.
