What are the responsibilities and job description for the Business Manager - Events Manager position at Italian Heritage Center Weddings and Events?
The Business Manager will be responsible for overseeing and managing the day-to-day operations of IHC consistently with the IHC Values and established Objectives and Key Results. The Business Manager is expected to be a hands on manager and will supervise a Head Chef, Bartenders and Banquet Staff. The Business Manager must possess strong operational, financial, and analytical skills and will not be hesitant to jump into the operations and assist the staff when needed.
This position reports to the President of the IHC who reports to the IHC Board of Directors. The Business Manager will work closely with the Board of Directors, Marketing and Finance Committees to ensure positive financial performance, positive culture in employees and clients.
This job salary is based on experience and includes a commission.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
· Excellent candidates will have a minimum of 3 years of general management experience in an Event Center, Banquet Center, or similar venue.
- Degree in business, management, or three to five years related experience and/or training;
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills including the ability to listen attentively and to communicate information clearly and effectively.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Caterease or similar banquet/event software is a plus
- Creative room set up and tablescapes. Ability to bartend, a plus.
Duties of this Role
- Deliver the highest quality banquet, food and beverage services. Creating exceptional member/guest experiences.
- Daily prospecting calls to accounts and opportunities. Generate new leads and interest in the market consistently.
- Create and maintain rolling 3-month sales forecast and targeting sales attainment plans.
- Follow up on online leads, inquiry calls and emails promptly to secure a high event bookings.
- Maintain an ongoing client database.
- Create and maintain a database of client satisfaction and determine which marketing activities are successful and cost effective.
- Outstanding poise in a fast-paced business environment.
- Handle member relations issues as needed.
- Will be the point of contact for all clients and scheduling events.
- Analyze and summarize the local competitive markets within the region using all available resources to determine sales & marketing plans and goals.
- Manage employee activities, providing suitable resources.
- Maintains adequate staffing levels at all times, recruit as necessary.
- Working hours vary and may include nights, weekends and holidays.
- Will be present at the start of most events to greet the client and make sure the event is properly staffed and functioning as planned.
- Supervise employees, train and counsel toward improved efficiency with internal processes that adhere to legal guidelines.
- Working closely with the Chef to determine the number of event staff and planning the layout and set up of the venue.
- Will work with the Chef and Bookkeeper to properly price events within established pricing guidelines.
- Work with our Board of Directors and the Chef to develop long-term strategic initiatives.
- Responsible for revenue growth.
- Oversee the care and maintenance of the facilities.
- Works with the IHC Board to identify potential facility improvements needed.
- Consistently ensure that the IHC is operated in accordance with all applicable local, state, and federal laws.
- Give direction to and work closely with vendors, outside contractors, firms, and individuals providing services to the IHC.
- Perform other duties as directed by the Board of Directors.

Pay: $60,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
