Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and safety-conscious Transportation Specialist to join our team at Ithaca City School District. As a School Bus Operator, you will be responsible for safely transporting students to and from school, while also maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the bus.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct daily pre-trip inspections to ensure the bus is in good working condition
- Drive the bus safely and professionally, adhering to all traffic ordinances and school district policies
- Assist students with loading and unloading the bus, while maintaining a safe and orderly environment
- Perform minor maintenance tasks on the bus, as needed
- Administer first aid to students, if necessary
- Participate in on-site training and professional development opportunities
Additional Responsibilities
- Dust and clean furniture, fixtures, and equipment
- Wash windows, walls, and floors
- Perform simple clerical tasks, such as filing and sorting
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Valid driver's license and good driving record
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
