We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Principal Specialist to join the Accounting/Finance team!
SUMMARY
The Principal Specialist, Accounting & Finance is responsible for executing a variety of accounting and finance activities to include accounts payable, site payment management, financial analysis, and month end and year end reporting.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage the company’s outgoing expenses and ensures that all invoices are processed and paid promptly and accurately
- Receive and verify expense reports and invoices from vendors and suppliers
- Process payments to vendors per company policies
- Reconcile accounts payable and other related accounts on a monthly basis
- Assists in managing site payment process
- Assist with month end closing activities as it relates to accounts payable and related accounts
- Maintain vendor and supplier data
- Prepare and/or assist in annual 1099 forms
- Assist in financial analysis projects such as monthly spend variance analyses, spending by supplier/vendors, pricing and supplier renegotiation opportunities, project profitability, and other other ad hoc continuous improvement and cost savings projects
- Provide back up support for Finance Manager and Accountant/Office Manager
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
BS and 4 to 6 years’ experience in Accounting or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of spreadsheet, word processing and accounting software, as well as experience with computer and 10 key calculator.
COMPUTER SKILLS
Ability to use computer and 10 key calculator on a regular basis. Knowledge of spreadsheet and accounting software packages required.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS
Written skills needed for vendor bid requests and other correspondence. Ability to effectively communicate or present information in one‑on‑one and small group situations to vendors and other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Strong math skills including ability to work with mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES
Ability to collect data, establish facts, analyze accounts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to independently follow-up and meet deadlines, apply logic to problems.
