Manager of Individual Giving, Events, and Community Engagement 

Reports to: Director or President

$84,000 to $92,000

Work hour expectations: work events outside of office hours; reply and correspond outside of office hours to client and management needs via email, Slack, and text.


This is a staff member who is a strategic thinker, leader and “doer”. As part of JMA’s management, and the development team, this role helps us raise funds (for clients) from individuals, corporations/companies, small businesses, faith communities and small family foundations.


The Manager will provide guidance and engagement needed to keep our clients’ stakeholders informed and involved in addition to sourcing new donors and increasing, when possible, current/historical levels of support for the organization.


Key Responsibilities: Community Engagement and Donors

  • Ability to advise client on fundraising strategies and activities that will be most effective for their organization
  • Plan and execute community engagement strategies and events
  • Individual giving plans
  • Capital Campaigns 
  • Major Donors strategy and plan 
  • Planned Giving/Tributes  
  • Develop a thorough understanding of client programs, projects, and needs for the purpose of effective donor stewardship, using available resources and opportunities
  • Prospective donor identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship – individuals and corporations/businesses
  • Create and review and rate wealth screens 
  • Write and perform outreach to all donor types
  • List development (curated)
  • Secure one-on-one donor meetings and solicitations (in-person or zoom) to establish or strengthen donor relationships for long term support


Events

  • Secure revenue through sponsorship and other donations
  • Work with clients’ and their committees to achieve fundraising goals (sponsorship, guest registration and list management, program and more)
  • Event planning including contract negotiation and review, venues, entertainment, F/B
  • Event execution
  • Track meeting and event expenditures to stay on budget
  • Demonstrated ability to manage all types of events
  • Ensure all communications content and design are planned and executed in alignment with JMA’s client expectations
  • Suggest and execute communications to promote awareness and attendance of events

  • Provide outreach (sales) resources to support the growth of JMA – including cross sales to current clients and creation of proposals
  • Teach, coach and train development staff and communications writers in JMA writing techniques and expectations
  • Monitors monthly spend on all assigned accounts


Key Responsibilities: Clients

  • Maintain relationships with clients through email, phone and in-person meetings
  • Provide high quality, expert planning and strategy for clients
  • Work with the JMA team during assignments and editing process to ensure written content and proposals fit client needs and funders’ guidelines
  • Assist JMA to produce services that are exceptional

 

Experience/Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years relevant experience
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
  • Prefer development experience working with nonprofit organization(s); private and public sector
  • Self-starter with strong attention to detail, problem solving skills, and demonstrated ability to be flexible in work assignments 
  • Proven organizational skills including the ability to multi-task, prioritize assignments, maintain data maintenance systems, and meet multiple deadlines
  • Excellent writing/editing/drafting skills, research and information compilation skills
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills, demonstrated ability to work independently as well as with teams
  • Excellent computer skills: Microsoft Office Suite


Benefits

  • Bonuses are awarded to staff based on extraordinary work output, bringing in new clients and a recommendation from a manager. Additionally, awards of more ESST/PTO are/can be given in addition to or instead of a cash bonus.
  • Overtime: (over 40 hours per week) paid at a rate of time and a half.
  • Employee Safe and Sick Time (ESST) & Paid Time Off (PTO) – ESST/PTO will begin accruing upon hire. All employees will earn ESST/PTO at a rate of 0.0909 per hour worked. This equates to earning 1 hour of ESST/PTO for every 11 hours worked. Employees may choose to use their ESST/PTO award for mental or physical illness, treatment or preventative care; a family member’s mental or physical illness, treatment or preventative care; absence due to domestic abuse, sexual assault or stalking of the employee or a family member; death in an employee’s immediate family; closure of the employee’s workplace due to weather or public emergency or closure of a family member’s school or care facility due to weather or public emergency; when determined by a health authority or health care professional that the employee or a family member is at risk of infecting others with a communicable disease; vacation days; and holidays.
  • IRA participation (JMA contributes 3% if employee participates)
  • Life Insurance and LTD – at no cost to employee
  • Healthcare plan reimbursement is available to employees who are not covered under another(s) healthcare plan and are required to purchase an individual or family plan (being covered on a significant other or parents plan does not qualify). Healthcare reimbursement in the amount of $250.00 per month for an individual plan is available if you are the “primary” on your plan ($250 per month = $3,000.00 per year for insurance). Healthcare in the amount of $500.00 per month for a family plan is available if you are the “primary” on your family plan ($500 per month = $6,000 per year for insurance).
