Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced
and passionate Sommelier with deep expertise in French wines to join our team.
The ideal candidate will have an exceptional knowledge of French wine regions,
varietals, and vintages, paired with a talent for creating memorable guest
experiences. As a key member of our team, you will collaborate closely with our
culinary team to curate wine pairings that enhance our high-end dining
experience.
Key Responsibilities
Wine Program Management
- Curate and
manage an extensive wine list with a strong emphasis on French wines,
ensuring a well-rounded selection from regions such as Bordeaux, Burgundy,
Champagne, Loire, Rhône and Alsace
regular evaluations of the wine list to reflect seasonal menus, guest
preferences and industry trends
appropriate inventory levels, oversee purchasing and manage wine storage
to ensure quality and freshness
Guest Engagement
personalized wine recommendations to guests, tailoring suggestions to
their tastes and meal selections
tableside presentations to enhance the guest experience, including the
decanting and proper service of wines
tastings, pairings and special events to educate guests and promote wine
sales
Team Collaboration and Training
with the culinary team to develop and suggest wine pairings that
complement the menu
front-of-house staff on wine knowledge, service techniques and upselling
strategies
culture of continuous learning about wines, focusing on French wine
expertise
Operational Excellence
program profitability by managing costs, ensuring accurate pricing and
tracking sales performance
compliance with all local, state and federal liquor regulations
highest standards of cleanliness and organization in wine storage areas
Qualifications
as a Sommelier from a recognized program (e.g., Court of Master
Sommeliers, WSET Level 3 or above) is preferred
knowledge of French wines, regions and vintages; familiarity with other international
wines is a plus
experience as a Sommelier or similar role in a high-end or fine dining
environment
interpersonal and communication skills with a focus on guest satisfaction
work evenings, weekends and holidays as required by the restaurant
schedule
organized and passionate about wine and hospitality
