What are the responsibilities and job description for the ASSISTANT PROGRAM COORDINATOR - Get REAL Summer Program position at Jackson County?
The Jackson County Health Department is seeking candidates for seasonal employment to assist in the operations of the Get REAL summer program from May - July 2025. Training and orientation will be provided prior to program start date with program sessions held on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from June 17th through July 18th. Questions - contact Keri Wolcott at 517-768-2138 or kwolcott@mijackson.org.Position DescriptionRESPONSIBILITIES- Serve as a mentor/role model for participants and teen mentors in the Get REAL summer program.
- Assist in the organization and direction of teen mentors.
- Co-facilitate interactive lessons and activities
- Coordinate participant recruitment, food service, field trips, service learning, and transportation.
- Create, update, and distribute weekly parent/community communication—flyers, newsletters, social media, group texts, etc.
- Participate in all activities related to programming including but not limited to physical activities, appropriate formal/informal conversations, conversation/interaction with youth participants/teen mentors, field trips, community service projects, etc.
- Seek Health Educator input regarding participant/mentor issues such as verbal/physical abuse and neglect, substance use, etc.
- Attend all scheduled program trainings
- Organize and maintain program registration and attendance records, supplies, photos, and other program paperwork as assigned
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:*Must be 18 years
*Follow instructions—working and thinking professionally, independently, and responsibly
*Serve as and maintain the image of a positive role model for youth ages 10-15 and teen mentors
*Maintain a positive, upbeat, high energy attitude at all times with participants
*Remain open-minded and non-judgmental, accepting different value systems
*Engage with new people; provide leadership and direction to teen mentors and participants
*Be responsible for own, reliable transportation
*Critical thinking, problem solving inappropriate situations
