What are the responsibilities and job description for the TEEN MENTOR - Get Real Summer Program position at Jackson County?
The Jackson County Health Department is seeking female/male high school candidates (ages 16-19) for part-time/seasonal employment, mentoring youth ages 10-15 during the summer of 2025. Program sessions will be held on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from June 17th through July 18th. Training and orientation will be provided prior to program start. RESPONSIBILITIES
Serve as a teen mentor to youth ages 10-15 who are participating in the Get REAL Summer Program
Co-facilitate and participate in all interactive lessons and activities
*Assist with all community service learning projects and field trips
*Monitor behavior and safety of youth at all times during programming
*Participate in all activities related to programming (physical activities, appropriate formal/informal conversations, field trips, community service projects, etc.)
*Assist fellow mentors and staff in the set-up (before) and cleaning (after) of the facility
*Manage/responsible for being engaged w/students and building relationships
*Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
Follow instructions—working and thinking professionally, independently, and responsibly
*Serve as and maintain the image of a positive role model for youth ages 10-15
*Maintain a positive, upbeat, high energy attitude at all times with participants
*Remain open-minded and non-judgmental, accepting different value systems
*Engage with new people and work with students from surrounding high schools
*Regularly participate on the TPPI Teen Advisory Council and attend monthly meetings
*Be RESPONSIBLE FOR OWN, RELIABLE TRANSPORTATION

A Family Celebration Dinner will add one additional evening on July 17th.
Be available for the majority of program days, i.e., plan vacation for before or after Get REAL.
