Jackson &MacNichol is a family law firm based in South Portland, Maine with a passion for guiding people through the legal wilderness. Jackson & MacNichol has specialized in disability claims for over 40 years. We do a small amount of Social Security disability and a large amount of Veterans disability. We take pride in our motto for the Veteran’s, which is “You fought for us, now let us fight for you!” We have about 17 people that work in the office in South Portland, Maine and more than 85 who work remotely in Maine and across the Country.

We are looking to hire an in-house HR Assistant to join our Human Resources department at Jackson & MacNichol. The HR Assistant will handle recruiting , HR mail, assist with monthly staff incentives, HR reporting and other special projects.
Job Description
The HR Assistant is responsible for opening confidential HR mail , scanning and setting a task to the HR Manager ; mailing monthly staff incentives ; reviewing resumes, completing background search on applicants prior to contacting them, phone screening candidates, scheduling and conducting interviews ; coordinating new staff training; handling travel arrangements for the leadership team: inputting all HR reporting to 90 and excel spreadsheets.
The HR Assistant is a direct report to the HR Manager and will participate in the weekly Human Resources Department meeting. Must have recruiting experience. The ideal candidate would be professional, familiar with excel and working in an office, good customer service skills, strong computer skills, organizational skills, and thrive in a fast-pace environment.
