Essential Job Responsibilities and Duties:
- Autonomously handle human resource and employee policies and procedures and employee relations issues
- Coach and monitor employees at all levels of the organization to ensure consistency throughout all departments
- Coordinate and assist with legal matters requiring outside counsel
- High proficiency and compliance with Federal, State, Municipal and Gaming laws and regulations
- Ensure consistency between the HRMS, wage charts, and employee records
- Consistent and timely tracking of disciplinary action associated with Surveillance Reports, “Money for Minors” and any other required actions
- Tracking and approval of all employee performance reviews
- Consistent application and on-going monitoring of wage and salary administration
- Development and management of HR budgets, billing, reports and recordkeeping
- Assist and monitor all legal claims, employee liability and lawsuits as well as reviews, prepares and attends all unemployment hearings
- Collaborate with the General Managers and Corporate Director of HR regarding processes and resources
- Review job descriptions to ensure compliance with all applicable laws
- Regular, predictable attendance is an essential function of the job
- Management of recruitment initiatives and strategies, safety programs, and the training and development function
- Coordinate and meet with insurance brokers and WC and ELP carriers
- Annually review and make recommendations to GM for improvement of the casino policies, procedures and practices related to employee matters
- Work effectively with corporate and casino management, employees, and co-workers
- Demonstrate the ability to enhance the working relations of other employees and departments
- Provide consistent and effective communication skills with employees, supervisors, and management teams
- Acquire additional human resources knowledge and skills through continuing education, reading and conferences or coursework
- Coordinate all aspects of the Helping Hand Fund
- Serve as chair of the Employee Recognition Committee (ERC)
- Effective supervision of HR Staff for scheduling, payroll, forecasting, performance evaluations, training, selection and hiring as well as managing, supervising and reviewing the line functions of the property-level Human Resources Department
- Other related duties including but not limited to complying with the following; Colorado Limited Gaming Act, Colorado Gaming Rules and Regulations, Colorado Internal Control Minimum Procedures, Colorado Liquor and Beer Codes, Federal requirements for Anti-Money Laundering, Company Policies, and IRS reporting
Skills, Education and Other Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent or seven to ten years of experience in Human Resources with extensive experience with HR Employee Relations
- Certified as PHR, SPHR, or GPHR
- Operational management abilities and experience
- Consideration given to a 4-year degree in HR or Business Administration
- Management experience in the casino or hospitality industry a plus
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as knowledge of software for HRMS & payroll system, and MS Office, to include EXCEL, WORD, and PowerPoint
- Excellent interpersonal skills in dealing with exempt and non-exempt staff
- Be an advocate for non-exempt employees as well as enforcing policies and procedures
- Experience with interviewing/recruiting, development of wage and salary programs, training programs and risk management
- Must possess a valid Colorado Gaming License
- Identification that establishes identity
