Your Day to Day
- Assist in preparing quantity takeoffs to the appropriate level of detail necessary to build an estimate that accurately reflects required labor, material, equipment and subcontractor categories.
- Solicit bids from vendors and subcontractors to secure scope and pricing for estimates.
- Distribute bid documents and ensure subcontractors have the correct information.
- Assist estimators in putting together bids, writing contracts, etc.
- Review specifications for specific projects requirements inclusive of products and materials execution requirements that are to be included.
- Read and understand plans to prepare bids and review subcontractor proposals.
- Contact vendors that are specified to get pricing and product information.
- Assist in writing bid manuals.
- Assist in preparing internal pre-award forms with accompanying backup.
- Assist to maintain internal cost databases.
- Request pre-qualification data from subcontractors.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.

- Performing all tasks with accuracy and in a timely manner.
- Performing thorough, detailed and accurate analysis on all assignments.
- Accurately entering data and tracking information project tracking systems, databases and spreadsheets.
- Visiting project sites as needed to accomplish fact finding, statistical evaluation of task, or change order pricing.
- Creating and maintaining organized estimate files.
- Communicating effectively in written and verbal communications to ensure understanding of estimates in the bid process, with project managers as well as with vendors/sub-contractors.
- Utilizing strong organizational skills and attention to detail to ensure project information is complete, well ordered and finished according to standards.
- Being able to accept constructive criticism and deal effectively with high-stress situations.
Education & Experience
Currently enrolled as a student pursuing an undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Building Science or other equivalent program in the construction and/or engineering industry
