Function :
The Shop Supervisor handles the daily tasks associated with running a fabrication and assembly shop. We are looking for someone who wants to build and grow a high-performance shop in the Northern Colorado region. JFT has an ISO 9001 quality assurance program and an established AWS welding program. You will be a key member of a growing company.
Core Duties & Responsibilities Include :
- Coordinate and direct daily tasks of shop personnel.
- Interview potential shop hires.
- Welding per AWS using GMAW, FCAW, GTAW processes.
- Operate manual mills, lathes, rolls, forklifts and other shop equipment.
- Ensure jobs are completed on time and meet customer requirements.
- Assemble custom equipment to print.
- Test custom equipment to written plans.
- Maintain a safe and clean shop.
- Conduct employee performance appraisals.
- Perform preventative maintenance.
- Ensure shop employees are working to JFT policies & procedures.
Qualifications & Experience :
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :
Strength and Stamina : The job involves lifting and moving parts or materials, typically up to 50lbs. The ability to stand for long periods (8 hours) is required.
Manual Dexterity : Precise hand movements are necessary for handling tools, making adjustments to machines and operating a computer.
Visual Acuit y : Good eyesight, including close vision and depth perception, is important for detailed work.
Mobility : Frequent bending, stooping, and crouching is required, along with the ability to maneuver around machinery and equipment.
Coordination : The role requires good hand-eye coordination to operate equipment safely and effectively.
Communication : Must be able to communicate effectively in writing and verbally with team members, customers and vendors.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS : Machine and fabrication shop environment around equipment such as water jet tables, lathes, milling machines, press brakes and forklifts. Welding operations are often taking place nearby. This job requires adherence to strict safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). JFT has implemented a 9 / 80 work schedule, and the office is closed every other Friday.
