JKT Development is seeking a skilled and dedicated Concrete Superintendent to join our team! As the Jamestown Concrete Superintendent, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the successful execution of projects by expertly pouring, leveling, and smoothing concrete on a variety of surfaces. This includes everything from roads and sidewalks to curbs and building floors. Your expertise will be essential in all phases of the concrete process, from setting the initial forms and patching existing surfaces, to cutting expansion joints and meticulously monitoring the critical curing process to guarantee a high-quality, durable finish that meets our exacting standards. Responsibilities include:
- Designing and building forms.
- Oversee daily work of Jamestown Concrete.
- Complete annual employee performance appraisals
- Ability to read plans and concrete details as well as layout from survey.
- Setting forms that hold the concrete in place.
- Knowing the proper use of reinforcement on concrete.
- Cleaning and inspecting surfaces for pouring issues.
- Safely operating power vibrator to ensure the concrete is compacted.
- Molding and constructing expansion joints using joiners and edging tools.
- Polishing surface using a power surfacing machine.
- Supervising and training workers to help them use special tools to spread concrete.
- Practice forward thinking while staying up to date with pouring technology and equipment.
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years work experience as a concrete laborer or mason.
- Excellent organization skills and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
- Effective time management, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively and independently.
- Effective written and verbal communication.
- Ability to travel including but not limited to jobsites and suppliers.
Preferred Qualifications:
- American Indian/Alaska Native preferences apply.
- Knowledge of working with different types of concrete mixes and concrete finishes.
- Ability to operate small equipment including skid steer, mini excavator, and forklift.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Good level of physical fitness.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
- Ability and willingness to work outside in various weather conditions, through all seasons.
- Ability and willingness to work in trenches and confined spaces.
- Must be available to work any shift (to include all hours, weekends, and/or holidays as job duties require).
- Must be able to lift, push and carry in excess of 50lbs. unassisted.
- Physical ability to access all areas of the property applicable to your position.
- Must be able to withstand prolonged standing, sitting, walking, bending, climbing, squatting, twisting, and shovel-work without restriction.
- Requires eye/hand coordination and manual dexterity; ability to distinguish letters, numbers, and symbols.
- Must have the ability to reach at or below/above shoulder level on a continuous basis.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced, busy, and somewhat stressful environment and maintain physical stamina, proper mental attitude while dealing effectively with customers, management, team members, and outside contacts while working under pressure and meeting deadlines.
