What are the responsibilities and job description for the Design Assistant - Menswear position at Jannine Abadi Associates?
We are looking for Assistant Designer for a prominent Men's sportswear brand being sold in mid-tier retail accounts. This role is idea for someone with about 2 years of experience working in apparel design. Men's sportswear experience is preferred. This is 4 days in office in NYC.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with members of the Design team on designs, color, and studio organization
- Organize & maintain fabric, concept sample, & competitor sample libraries
- Create and update design sketches, tech packs, and CADs using systems such as Illustrator and PLM/Centric
- Maintain and organize charts leveraged by cross-functional teams in Excel and Airtable
- Research ideas and core design trends as well as color and print inspiration
- Work cross-functionally with teams such as Design Ops, Technical Design, Product Development, Merchandising, Sourcing, Packaging, Creative, and Marketing throughout seasonal development
- Attend fittings and provide follow-up support
- Communicate with factories via email
- Assist with any other ad hoc projects within the Design department
Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Design preferred
- 2-3 years of Design experience in internship and/or full-time work setting
- Portfolio that demonstrates Design experience and abilities
- Experience working with Off Price accounts (preferred).
- Excellent organization skills
- Experience working Photoshop and Illustrator
- Proficient in Excel
- Proficient in Outlook
- PLM experience is a plus
Salary : $60,000 - $65,000
