What are the responsibilities and job description for the Tasting Room Educator/Server position at JAX Vineyards?
JAX Vineyards (www.jaxvineyards.com) is looking for an engaging and dynamic individual to work in our new tasting room located in the heart of the SoMa district of San Francisco. Situated just two blocks from Oracle Ballpark, our tasting room provides an exclusive venue for private tastings and events. It is also one of the hottest up-and-coming destinations to grab a glass of wine, flight or bottle with friends during weekly Happy Hours. Pouring wine portfolio crafted by globally renowned winemaker Kirk Venge and sourced from Napa Valley and Sonoma County, guests can taste through an array of varietals that tell the story of JAX.
JAX Tasting Room / Happy Hour representatives are responsible for providing exceptional customer service and wine education to our tasting room and event guests, as well as support all initiatives by the Tasting Room Manager and Executive Officers. The typical shift runs from 3:30pm-10:00pm Tuesday-Saturday. Staff should also be readily available for private event bookings and private tastings if needed.
Duties for JAX Tasting Room / Happy Hour Representatives:
- Welcomes visitors to the JAX Tasting Room and pours wines / prepare cheese plates for Happy Hour
- Ensures that every visitor enjoys their wine tasting experience and leaves with a very high impression of our brand
- Accurately describes JAX wines, winemaking techniques, appellations, unique aspects of wine and our history
- Presents an in-depth knowledge of the wines, the vineyards and the brand
- Creates and projects the highest standards of hospitality and positive customer relations
- Takes the initiative for self-development in the areas of our wines, general hospitality and acquiring effective sales techniques
- Effectively promotes / sells wine and JAX wine club memberships to visiting customers
- Promotes JAX social media and encourages people to follow our brand online
- Accurately handles routine purchasing transactions, which include operating Square register and accounting of daily sales and tips; processes returns, discounts, etc.
- Assists with private events
- Performs other duties as assigned by Tasting Room Manager
- Housekeeping efforts, including but not limited to stocking, packing, organizing, washing and polishing glassware
Position Requirements:
- Strong hospitality and customer service skills
- Wine industry or restaurant experience preferred
- Polished verbal communication skills a must
