What are the responsibilities and job description for the Child Safety Supervisor position at JCCA?
OBJECTIVE: The Child Safety Supervisor works in tandem with the other members of the Child Safety Team as well as the program staff in creating and maintaining a safe and secure environment that provides for the physical and emotional needs of youth and staff living and working at JCCA’s Pleasantville Campus in Westchester NY.
ESSENTIAL TASKS:
- Must pass Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (“TCI”) training every six months to master de-escalation techniques to support crisis prevention for youth and adolescents.
- Work collaboratively with the Director of Safety and Security and the other members of the Child Safety Team in providing administrative direction and support for all campus programs
- Participate in the development and implementation of safety and security standards for JCCA’s Pleasantville Campus
- Communicate regularly with the Director of Safety and Security and campus leadership on all issues impacting campus safety and security and actively participate in the successful resolution of said issues
- Ensure that all cottages are adequately staffed for the duration of the shift and re-deploy staff as needed to ensure compliance with mandated staffing ratios
- Provide direct supervision of all assigned Child Safety Workers and develop monthly schedules
- Employ the tenets of Sanctuary and TCI to provide for the emotional, mental and physical safety of all residents and staff
- Provide a warm and welcoming atmosphere for parents, families and visitors.
- Communicate and assist the Child Safety Teams and program staff with immediate crisis response services throughout all campus programs
- Engage with residents who are out of programs; redirecting them back to program, following AWOL procedures
- Ensure that all administrative reports such as daily logs, incident reports, and accident reports are completed as per agency protocol
- Document in the agency’s systems census for all campus programs, staffing patterns, and all critical have occurred during the shift
- Inform the incoming Child Safety Supervisors and Child Safety Workers of all critical issues during the turnover of shift and ensure that said critical issues are properly documented in the aforementioned administrative reports
- Respond to alarms by investigating and assessing situations; ensure that all administrative buildings are secured after regular business hours
- Drive agency vehicle for purposes of patrolling the campus and transporting youth and staff as necessary
SCHEDULE
- Overnight and Evening Shifts available
- All schedules require one weekend day (Saturday or Sunday)
- 8-hour shift (5 Days per week) or 10-hour shift (4-days per week)
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
- High School Diploma required with supervisory experience in residential youth services; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred
- Valid New York State Driver’s License required; CT or NJ license is acceptable
SALARY:
$58,500 -$62,000
