Direct Patient Care Volunteering

If you have a caring heart and are ready to offer hands-on support, consider joining our direct patient care team. These roles are perfect for those who are emotionally prepared to work with patients facing terminal illness, and who want to provide compassionate care during a critical time. Volunteers in direct patient care will offer:

• Companionship: Engage with patients in meaningful ways—whether it’s sharing conversation, reading their favorite books, or simply spending time doing something they enjoy. Your presence will help reduce loneliness and provide a comforting, peaceful environment.
• Physical Assistance: Assist patients with daily tasks such as feeding, light housekeeping, dressing, and more. This support allows patients to focus on what matters most: their comfort and emotional well-being.
• Emotional Support: Provide a listening ear, offer reassurance, and hold a hand through difficult moments. Your empathy and emotional presence will make a lasting impact on both the patient and their family.

Support Behind the Scenes

For those who prefer a more behind-the-scenes role, there are essential opportunities to support our hospice care team and help us serve families with the highest level of care. These positions are just as important in ensuring that our mission of holistic care is carried out smoothly. Responsibilities include:

• Office Support: Help with organizing paperwork, answering phones, and assisting with data entry. Your organizational skills will support our hospice team in providing seamless care to our patients.
• Event Coordination: Plan and coordinate meaningful community events, fundraisers, and volunteer appreciation programs. These events help raise awareness about the importance of end-of-life care and strengthen community ties.
• Community Outreach: Be a voice for JCH Medcare by promoting our services and raising awareness about the importance of compassionate end-of-life care. Your efforts will help build relationships and increase understanding of holistic care within the community.
• Delivering Flowers and Supplies: Brighten the lives of families by delivering flowers, comfort items, and essential supplies. These small acts of kindness are essential in helping grieving families feel supported and cared for.
• Family Assistance: Assist families with non-medical needs such as providing practical supplies or logistical support. This role is critical in helping families focus on their loved ones while you take care of the details.

Please note that this is an unpaid volunteer position. While the role is not compensated financially, we offer a range of incentives to express our gratitude for your time and dedication, including gas reimbursement, concert tickets, coffee gift cards, and more. These incentives are provided to enhance your volunteer experience and show our appreciation for your invaluable contribution.
