What are the responsibilities and job description for the Artificial Turf/Groundskeeper position at Jefferson City School District?
POSITION TITLE: Artificial Turf/Groundkeeper, District Wide
FLSA: Non-Exempt
Location: Maintenance
REPORTS TO: Maintenance Supervisor
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 12-month employment with benefits as specified in the Classified Agreement.
PURPOSE:
Groundskeeper skilled in performing tasks in accordance with standard practices and codes on a variety of building components throughout the District. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: identifying repair and/or replacement needs; installing, repairing, and/or upgrading building components in accordance with building codes; ensuring completion of projects and work orders in a timely manner with minimal supervision; assisting other skilled trades; maintaining District tools and equipment in an acceptable manner.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Artificial Turf grooming and maintenance.
- Mowing and Bagging of baseball outfields and surrounding areas as deemed necessary.
- Installs, repairs and/or replaces, winterizes and otherwise maintains a variety of District irrigation systems for the purposes of conserving water and maintaining the attractiveness of District facilities.
- Designs layouts for a variety of plantings (trees, shrubs, flowers, etc.) District wide and installs and maintains for the purpose of maintaining the attractiveness of District Facilities.
- Analyzes blue prints, schematics, and drawings and layout new construction, and inspects the work of outside contractors prior to approving for payment to ensure work meets job specifications.
- Estimates materials, labor, and/or equipment needed to complete assigned work for the purpose of obtaining necessary materials, time necessary and communicating needs with supervisor.
- Assists with painting athletic fields (soccer, football, track, etc.) as necessary for sporting events.
- Installs and maintains existing plantings and mulch beds.
- Familiar with various fertilizers and pesticides and their use and applications.
- Assist other trades in tasks as necessary.
- Responds to emergency situations during and after hours in order to resolve immediate safety concerns and minimize disruptions.
- Maintain District resources (truck, tools, equipment etc.) in a serviceable and orderly fashion.
- Assist with snow removal, which may occur outside normal working hours.
- Other duties as assigned including but not limited to: moving furniture, chairs, risers and other District resources as requested.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Pesticide applicators license preferred.
- Class E driver’s license, with good driving history.
- Good work attitude with a positive and pleasant disposition.
- Self-starter; able to work independently.
- Artificial Turf installation and repair experience preferred.
- 3 years Turf Management/Landscaping experience required
- 2 year degree in Turf Management preferred.
