Chief Accountant

Chief Accountant - This is an administrative position in the County Treasurer’s office that involves chief responsibility for planning, implementing and monitoring accounting and fiscal management functions. The work includes analyzing and monitoring program funds, grants and expenditures, developing accounting systems, furnishing periodic financial reports, overseeing account keeping activities and serving as a liaison with other governmental agencies.

Salary Range: $80,898 - $91,051 per year (2024 Rate)

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a bachelor's degree in accounting, business or public administration, economics or related field, including or supplemented by 18 semester credit hours in accounting, and three (3) years of accounting or auditing experience involving the maintenance or auditing of double entry books of a business, including the general ledger, or in the maintenance of governmental agency books involving appropriation accounting and the preparation of budget and financial reports, one year of which must have been in a supervisory capacity.
