Job Summary
The Director, Human Resources is responsible for planning, implementing, and managing the Human Resources functions for assigned areas within the organization. This position serves as the primary resource for employee relations, policy development, regulatory compliance, recruitment, compensation, benefits administration, and workforce development. The Director provides strategic leadership and operational guidance to ensure alignment with the organization's goals and compliance with legal and regulatory standards.
Essential Functions
- Develops, revises, and implements human resources policies and procedures to support organizational strategies and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Leads change management initiatives, providing tools and strategies to align with the organization’s mission and goals.
- Provides leadership and guidance to HR team members and partners with other leaders to achieve organizational objectives.
- Oversees and advises management on employee relations matters, including disciplinary actions, terminations, grievances, and performance improvement plans.
- Collaborates with the Talent Acquisition and Onboarding teams to oversee recruitment strategies, applicant selection processes, and compliance with employment regulations.
- Oversees workers’ compensation case management in collaboration with the Leave/WC COE and third-party administrators.
- Administers employee benefits programs in partnership with the corporate office and third-party vendors.
- Manages payroll and HR processing to ensure accuracy and compliance with organizational policies and directives.
- Develops and manages departmental goals and objectives to align with organizational initiatives.
- Creates, oversees, and/or conducts organization-wide training on topics such as harassment, workplace policies, conflict management, and regulatory changes.
- Monitors and analyzes workforce metrics to identify trends and implement strategic solutions for improved efficiency and effectiveness.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Complies with all policies and standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required
- Master's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred
- 7-9 years of progressive human resources experience required, including leadership experience required
- Experience in employee relations, policy development, and HR compliance required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Strong knowledge of HR laws, policies, and best practices, including FLSA and compliance requirements.
- High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations effectively.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present ideas clearly and concisely.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Proven ability to lead and develop HR staff and provide strategic direction.
- Proficiency in HR technology, G Suite, and workforce management systems such as KRONOS.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills, with a strong focus on continuous improvement.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments.
Licenses and Certifications
- PHR or SHRM-CP preferred or
- SPHR or SHRM-SCP preferred
