Overview
The Manager of Development reports directly to the Director of Data and Development Services and is responsible for leading and overseeing a team of talented architects, engineers, and developers who design, develop, and maintain data and software solutions.
You will provide technical guidance, strategic direction, and resourcing that support the firm’s business processes and goals. You will also collaborate with other departments, senior management, and vendors to ensure the quality, security, and efficiency of our IT systems and services.
Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the development team, including assigning tasks, setting priorities, monitoring progress, and providing feedback and coaching
- Ensure data and software solutions are delivered on time and adhere to quality standards as well as security policies
- Guide team members through upskilling and ongoing technology modernization efforts
- Facilitate cross-functional communication between technical teams and nontechnical stakeholders to ensure clear understanding of project goals and deliverables
- Drive innovation and foster a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration within the development team
- Proactively inform management about challenges or risks affecting deliverables, along with proposed solutions
- Provide consistent and transparent status updates to senior management on project progress, team performance, and key milestones
- Champion the transition to CI / CD pipelines and DevOps practices to accelerate delivery and improve code quality
- Manage the development and deployment of new applications, systems software, and / or enhancements as well as maintenance and upgrades for existing applications
