Accounting Manager

JK Executive Strategies is proud to partner with a growing Electrical Contracting company in search of an Accounting Manager to join its team! The Accounting Manager will oversee daily financial operations, including general ledger management, banking activities, and financial reporting while ensuring compliance with accounting policies. Reporting directly to the owners, this role requires strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
The company serves both public and private sectors, including direct contracts with municipal governments and the state of New York. Comprehensive services encompass excavation, conduit installation, directional boring, foundation drilling, fiber optic cable installation and splicing, vehicle detection loops, and oversized load escorts.
Responsibilities
General Ledger Oversight
- Monitors General Ledger activities and reconciles accounts.
- Prepares and posts journal entries.
- Develops guidelines and assures proper handling and coding of invoices to maintain accurate general ledger accounts.
Cash and Banking
- Manages all banking activities.
- Monitors the daily cash balances and provides analysis of banking activities.
- Manages credit card accounts and loan accounting.
- Prepares various cash reports as requested.
- Maintains petty cash.
- Posts cash receipts.
- Review/Approve weekly check runs.
- Resolve any payment-related issues.
Process / Projects / Reports:
- Provide guidance & backup duties for vendor invoice processing, when necessary.
- Ensure financial records are maintained in compliance with accepted policies and procedures.
- Annual 1099 review & issuance.
- Prepare Monthly Sales Tax Reports.
- Prepare information for the annual accountant review.
- Monitor & maintain internal controls over the accounting function.
- Make recommendations on process improvements to realize efficiencies within the department.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business is preferred.
- 5 years’ related experience, construction experience is a plus.
- Experience with MS Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Able to multi-task and prioritize work effectively while maintaining attention to detail.
- Appropriate/tactful communication and ability to work with various levels of personnel within the organization.
- Adaptable, eager, good time management.
- Critical thinker, logical, analytical, and able to troubleshoot.
Salary Range
- $70k-$85k
