Job Title: Accounts Receivable Clerk
Summary:
The Accounts Receivable Clerk is responsible for maximizing revenue recovery by effectively managing outstanding accounts receivable from third-party payers, including government and commercial insurance companies. This role involves proactive claim follow-up, payment posting, and communication to ensure timely and accurate Invoices.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Payment Processing: Audit adjustment requests, process approved adjustments, and accurately post payments. Identify and resolve discrepancies in payments received.
- Account Management: Manage assigned work queues of outstanding accounts receivable, prioritizing claims based on aging and potential for collection.
- Communication: Communicate effectively with clients, (regarding outstanding balances and payment arrangements), and internal staff. Maintain professionalism in all communication methods (phone, email, written correspondence).
- Data Analysis & Reporting: Gather and report information on claim status, payment trends, and other key metrics. Utilize spreadsheets for basic data analysis and reporting.
- System Proficiency: Maintain proficiency in relevant software systems, including practice management systems, payer portals, and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
- Continuous Improvement: Proactively seek opportunities to expand knowledge of various payers, workflows, and best practices within accounts receivable.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate's or bachelor's degree in business administration or a related field preferred.
- Experience: 1-3 years of experience in healthcare or a related field preferred. 1-3 years of accounts receivable experience preferred.
- Skills:
