Job Summary
Health4PETS® Liaison Managers are key to the health and safety of all animals at JM Pet Resort & Veterinary Clinic. They lead and manage a team of Health4PETS® Liaisons, ensuring pets receive top-notch care and attention while maintaining clear, consistent communication with clients. As the primary point of contact between the Resort and the Veterinary Clinic, they bridge the gap between both departments, ensuring seamless collaboration and efficient care. Health4PETS® Liaison Managers oversee the administration of vaccines and medications, the evaluation of injuries and illnesses, and the performance of daily snout-to-tail examinations. They lead efforts to ensure pet safety, manage staff schedules, and handle any pet scuffles or altercations, while providing owners with timely updates. The role also includes the execution of Health4PETS® Extras, such as nail trims, and taking on additional projects to continuously improve the quality of care.
Essential Job Functions
· Oversee the identification and management of specific physical conditions in animals (vomiting, diarrhea, eye/nasal discharge, limping, etc.), ensuring that prescribed actions are followed to guarantee the safety and well-being of pets (including dogs and cats) in the facility.
· Lead client and staff communications with professionalism, maturity, and sensitivity, serving as the primary point of contact for clients and resolving any concerns or issues efficiently.
· Supervise and guide staff in maintaining accurate, detailed, and timely records of all activities, medical events, and communications for both dogs and cats, in line with company policies and best practices.
· Responsible for managing daily staff communications, ensuring effective coordination and clarity in assigning tasks and duties for animal care.
· Develop and implement organizational systems to support operational efficiency, utilizing task lists, checklists, and other resources to streamline workflows for staff.
· Oversee the administration of vaccinations and medications for both dogs and cats, ensuring that all protocols are adhered to, and safety standards are maintained.
· Use strong time management and organizational skills to ensure all tasks are completed within deadlines, adjusting priorities as needed to handle unanticipated events.
· Maintain a calm and confident demeanor, providing leadership and support to staff, especially in high-pressure or challenging situations.
· Ensure all staff follow safety guidelines for handling both dogs and cats, providing ongoing training as necessary to promote safe practices.
· Lead and support the implementation of positive reinforcement training techniques for both dogs and cats, ensuring staff are properly using treats and other appropriate methods.
· Manage staffing schedules, ensuring coverage for rotating shifts, weekend shifts, holidays, and overtime, in accordance with the facility’s needs.
· Monitor staff attendance, ensuring punctuality and adherence to the work schedule to maintain a reliable team presence.
· Take on additional tasks or projects within the facility as assigned, ensuring that they are completed efficiently and to the highest standards.
· Guide and train staff on recognizing and interpreting animal body language (canine and feline) to enhance safety, minimize risk, and optimize outcomes for both animals and staff.
· Establish and enforce clear communication protocols for interacting with Pet Parents and team members, ensuring that information is exchanged accurately and promptly.
· Oversee and manage a color-coded caution system for handling dogs and cats, ensuring all staff are informed of restrictions and permissions.
· Respond to and communicate instructions clearly, whether in person, via loudspeaker, or walkie-talkie, ensuring smooth and timely operations across the facility.
Physical Demands:
· Movement: Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and reach for extended periods. Must work on varying and slippery surfaces.
· Strength: Ability to lift up to 100 lbs. occasionally, 50 lbs. frequently, and carry up to 40 lbs.
· Auditory & Vision: Must hear animal sounds, communicate clearly, and distinguish colors. Must have good near and far vision for animal monitoring and reading.
Job Hazards:
· Exposure to bites, diseases, and contaminants.
· Frequent lifting, bending, and twisting.
Dress Code:
· Scrub tops must be embroidered, matched with bottoms, and in approved colors (Black, Royal, Wine, Caribbean Blue, or Red).
· Managers must have their first name embroidered on the scrub top, opposite the logo.
· Long-sleeve layers under scrub tops must be white, black, or grey.
· Logo’d zip-up jackets, sweatshirts, or vests in approved colors and good condition are allowed.
Computer Skills
· Must be able to learn and efficiently use Vetter, Gingr, Springboard, One Note, When I Work and Go Daddy Email.
· Must be able to learn new technology in accordance with business needs.
Qualifications
· Minimum of 2-3 years of professional experience in Animal Care or as a Veterinary Technician, with proven leadership and team management skills.
· Passionate about animal welfare, ensuring all animals are treated with compassion, care, and professionalism.
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with experience managing client and staff relationships.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $24.00 - $27.00 per hour
Expected hours: 32 – 40 per week
