We are seeking a highly motivated, experienced and dedicated Consulting Teacher for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing to join our dynamic healthcare team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for improving the lives of individuals with hearing loss and a commitment to providing high-quality, patient-centered care. This role involves working closely with healthcare professionals, patients, and their families to provide the necessary educational support, guidance, and resources. This position offers an opportunity to make a significant impact in the lives of our patients and their families and to contribute to our mission of providing excellent healthcare services.
Responsibilities :
1. Provide direct and consultative services to patients who are deaf or hard of hearing across a range of ages and medical conditions.
2. Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and treatment plans.
3. Provide training and education to healthcare staff and family members about hearing loss, communication strategies, and appropriate accommodations.
4. Advocate for the needs and rights of individuals with hearing loss within the healthcare setting.
5. Utilize and promote the use of assistive listening devices, visual aids, and other communication tools.
6. Conduct assessments and evaluations to monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as needed.
7. Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to the development of healthcare policies and procedures related to hearing loss.
8. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current research, trends, and developments in the field of deaf education and audiology.
Qualifications :
1. A minimum of 5 years of experience working as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing or a similar role.
2. A valid South Carolina teaching license.
3. Demonstrated knowledge of audiology, hearing aids, cochlear implants, and other assistive listening devices.
4. Experience working in a healthcare setting is preferred.
5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with individuals of all ages and backgrounds.
6. Strong advocacy skills, with a commitment to promoting the rights and needs of individuals with hearing loss.
7. Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and to collaborate with a wide range of healthcare professionals.
8. Commitment to ongoing professional development and learning, with a willingness to stay updated on the latest research and developments in the field.
9. Experience working with diverse populations and a commitment to providing culturally sensitive care.
10. Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
