Pharmacy Department Supervisor
The Pharmacy Department Supervisor reports directly to the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) and assumes responsibility for overseeing the pharmacy department. The role requires planning, organizing, and directing departmental activities, including setting goals and objectives, establishing policies, and implementing procedures to guide operations.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Select, train, and assign departmental staff in collaboration with management personnel.
- Develop standards of performance and monitor staff members, evaluating their performance and initiating or recommending personnel actions.
- Maintain and update the hospital formulary, ensuring high-quality and safe pharmacy services are delivered to patients and staff.
- Overssee the acquisition and procurement of quality medications for hospital use through inventory control.
- Develop and maintain quality assurance records and methodologies within the department.
- Maintain departmental records, reports, and patient profiles, collecting necessary statistical data.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy, along with either a Master of Science or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD).
- A minimum of three to five years of supervisory or administrative experience is required.
- Hospital pharmacy experience is mandatory.
- Able to work flexible schedules and coordinate multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong customer service orientation and ability to foster positive relationships with staff members.
- Proficiency in computer applications, including Word, Excel, and EMR (EPIC).
