Job Details
We are seeking a detail-oriented and strategic Accounting Manager to oversee the financial operations of our agriculture business. This role will play a critical part in managing the day-to-day accounting functions, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and delivering accurate and timely financial reporting. The ideal candidate will bring a strong understanding of accounting principles, experience in inventory and cost accounting, and the ability to navigate the unique challenges of the agriculture industry.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee and manage the daily operations of the accounting department including accounts payable/receivable, general ledger, payroll, bank reconciliations, and month-end/year-end close processes
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports
Maintain compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, and internal policies
Supervise and mentor accounting staff, ensuring proper training and professional development
Partner with operational leaders to provide financial insights that support decision-making and budgeting
Manage fixed assets, capital expenditures, and depreciation schedules
Track and analyze agricultural production costs, inventory, and yields
Coordinate with external auditors and tax preparers during annual audits and tax filing
Implement and maintain effective internal controls and accounting procedures
Lead process improvements and system upgrades to enhance efficiency and accuracy
Support strategic initiatives and special projects as assigned by senior leadership
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA preferred
5 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role
Prior experience in the agriculture, farming, or related industry is highly desirable
Strong knowledge of cost accounting, inventory management, and production tracking
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or Ag-specific platforms) and Microsoft Excel
Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Ability to communicate effectively across departments and levels of leadership
High attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy and integrity
