Job Details
We’re looking for an Exempt Organizations Attorney (Associate or Partner) to advise nonprofits on tax-exempt status, governance, compliance, and operational matters. This is a highly specialized and rewarding practice area, where you’ll help mission-driven clients navigate complex legal and regulatory landscapes.
🔹 What You’ll Be Doing
Advising nonprofits on governance, compliance, and tax-exempt status
Drafting key documents, including organizational policies and operational agreements
Handling applications for tax exemption and nonprofit tax compliance
Negotiating contracts and providing strategic legal counsel
Researching and advising on regulations, including PRIs (program-related investments)
Bonus if you have experience with political organizations and federal grants
🔹 What You Bring to the Table
J.D. and state bar admission
3 years of experience in nonprofit and tax-exempt law
Passion for working with mission-driven organizations
Experience in nonprofit governance, compliance, and tax matters
Ability to work independently and collaboratively with clients and legal teams
