Responsibilities
Analyze and interpret various legal documents such as title documents, contracts, leases, division orders, joint operating agreements, conveyances, and legal decrees to assess ownership interests.
Maintain and update Division of Interest records, process ownership changes, and determine the associated working interests and burdens (including royalty and overriding royalty interests) by reviewing title opinions, deeds, estate documents, assignments, and leases.
Work closely with land, legal, and accounting departments to ensure the accurate and timely distribution of royalties, working interests, and overriding royalties.
Update division order records and databases, including ownership changes, division decks, and well decks as needed.
Address and resolve ownership discrepancies, inquiries, and disputes with interest owners, landowners, and regulatory agencies via phone and email.
Prepare and distribute division orders, transfer orders, and other relevant documents in compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
Conduct research and due diligence on property ownership, title history, and legal issues related to division orders.
Assist in various special projects such as acquisitions, divestitures, due diligence, internal and external audits, data conversions, and other related tasks.
Contribute to the creation and ongoing maintenance of departmental processes and procedures.
Keep up-to-date with industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices relevant to division order processes and revenue distribution.
Experience (Required)
A bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Land Management, Energy Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
7 years of experience in division order analysis or similar roles within the upstream oil and gas industry.
Familiarity with BOLO.
