JOB SUMMARY :
Jefferson County Commission is seeking a highly qualified and motivated Surveying Party Chief to oversee the planning, coordination, direction, and participation in the collection and documentation of land survey data essential for completing construction design plans. The Survey Party Chief will be responsible for supervising engineering survey crews engaged in preliminary, special instruction, and final surveys. This role requires the application of advanced survey knowledge, developed through both training and practical experience, to manage a variety of field surveying tasks and ensure accurate and efficient data collection.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
The following are job-related qualifications that are required for employment consideration for this position :
- Driver's license.
- Experience working as part of a survey crew operating each of the following types of equipment : total stations, level, GPS equipment, electronic data collector, and CAD and survey software.
- Experience performing calculations on data gathered and interpreting the data (e.g., construction drawings, subdivision plats, deeds).
- Experience supervising subordinate personnel such as a Rodman or an Engineering Aide on a survey crew.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :

PHYSICAL DEMANDS :
Job involves physical exertion required for sustained periods of light physical activity such as walking or standing. May involve occasional lifting of items or objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
WORK ENVIRONMENT :
Work is conducted both indoors in office setting as well as regular field visits to outdoor worksites. Work involves use of a computer and specialized computer-aided drafting software, as well as various tools and equipment used for surveying land. Job may require walking on slippery or uneven terrain. Job may also require exposure to inclement weather when working outdoors (e.g., extreme heat, cold, rain, snow, wind, etc.).
