Reporting to the Chief Scientific Officer, the Vice President Medical Affairs will play a pivotal role in shaping the industry. This dynamic leader will establish and nurture strong relationships externally with key stakeholders, including Key Opinion Leaders, Surgeons, Regulatory Agencies, and Professional Societies. By anticipating industry trends, understanding clinical insights, and identifying unmet medical needs, you will ensure the delivery of high-quality products and solutions.

The ability to collaborate closely with the cross-functional teams, including R&D, Regulatory, Clinical, Pre-clinical and Health Economics and Market Access is critical for success.
The VP Medical Affairs will be an independent voice providing surgical/medical input into the clinical relevance of our portfolio to address unmet needs. You will support a strong culture of medical evidence and claims based on clinical studies and partnerships.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Deep surgical insights, gather, assimilate, and translate opportunities to address unmet surgical needs to inform the Franchise innovation agenda.
- Provides medical input into Target Product Profile
- Risk management and safety oversight across end-to-end processes, including medical input into adverse event reporting, complaints, Health Hazard Evaluations, Field Action Committee and Complaint Review Board.
- Ability to provide independent, medical input to critically evaluate clinical risk, and make evidence-based risk benefit determinations / assessments.
- Lead medical input into critical business decisions regarding potential patient safety issues.
- Analysis and interpretation of signals and trends from multiple inputs including clinical data, literature, complaints, etc.
- Supports medical education to ensure the relevant teams are on the forefront of emerging science, surgery, trends, technologies, and unmet needs through presence at key scientific meetings, relationship management with leading research physicians, medical delivery systems and government decision makers, critical evaluation of current literature and competitive activity, and in other domains where surgical / medical expertise is required.
- Responsible for leading the creation of Life Cycle Medical affairs (e.g., copy review, medical information requests, medical input CERs, etc.)
- Medical input into review of applications for Ed Grants, Scientific Info & IIS
Qualifications
- An MD/DO from an accredited school is required for this position. Training in a surgical discipline is required. Board Certification or equivalent (prior or current) is required. Prior clinical experience and extensive hands-on experience with the robotic approach is required to fulfill the specific needs for this role.
- Thorough understanding of clinical trends and the related healthcare market environment, with deep connections in the digital-, med tech- ecosystem.
- Experience in medical safety surveillance (drugs, biologics, or devices) and/or quality improvement activities is desirable.
- Strong background and deep medical expertise in assessment of clinical risk-benefit throughout product development and life-cycle management, with deep knowledge and understanding of all applicable standards / regulations requiring medical input, such as risk management, complaint management, reporting requirements, etc.
- Proven ability to be strong advocate for patient-centric decision making.
- The VP Medical Affairs leader will possess high emotional intelligence; possess excellent oral and written communication skills; possess excellent interpersonal skills for interactions with internal colleagues and external customers.

The anticipated base pay range for this position is $242k to $446k. Employees may be eligible to participate in Company employee benefit programs such as health insurance, savings plan, pension plan, disability plan, long-term incentive, vacation pay, sick time, holiday pay, and work, personal and family time off in accordance with the terms of the applicable plans.
