Network Engineer
Position Overview:
Johnsonville’s IT Infrastructure and Operations Team is looking for a candidate for the position of “Network Engineer” who will be responsible for designing and administering our enterprise IT networks. Primary duties will include optimization and maintenance of networks, including hardware, software, and other related systems, performing disaster recovery operations, protecting from data loss or intrusion, and replacing network hardware components when necessary. Strong interpersonal communication skills, self-reliance, and work ethic are critical traits that the candidate must possess.
Responsibilities:
- Provisioning and monitoring state of the art Software Defined Networks
- Working with vendors when required for installing Layer 1 cabling and other base network infrastructure
- Deploying network hardware and virtual appliances via Cisco DNAC, SD-WAN, ACI, and Microsoft Azure
- Cloud Network Operations including designing, provisioning, troubleshooting and decommissioning
- Replacing network hardware components when required
- Conferring with end users to solve existing and future problems related to network performance
- Deploying and operating industrial networking platforms
- Defending against emerging network borne threats using Cisco Firepower Threat Defense and AMP on Next Generation Intrusion Prevention Systems
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or a related field preferred
- Professional certifications including CompTIA N or Cisco CCNA preferred
Experience:
- Minimum of (3) years of field level knowledge and experience of enterprise computer networking as it relates to the onboarding of users, peripherals, IoT and industrial assets preferred
- Practical application of ITIL concepts to provide incident resolution and escalation via enterprise ITSM preferred
- Network security experience preferred
- LAN and WAN experience preferred
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong understanding of network infrastructure and network hardware
- Ability to think through problems and visualize solutions
- Ability to implement, administer and troubleshoot network infrastructure devices, including wireless access points, firewall, routers, switches, and controllers
- Knowledge of Software Defined Networking a plus.
- Ability to create accurate network diagrams and documentation for design and planning network communication systems
- Provide specific detailed information for hardware and software selection
- Ability to quickly learn new or unfamiliar technology and products using documentation and internet resources
- Ability to work with all levels of members within and outside of IT and outside the organization
- A self-starter able to work independently but comfortable working in a team environment
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills
- Dependable and flexible when necessary
- Strong communication skills
Other Requirements:
- Willingness to work hours outside of normal hours as needed
- Ability to travel
- On-call as needed
