- Develops and implements award policies and procedures, oversees the coordination processing of all aid programs, and ensures the compliance with all policies and procedures and with all federal, state, and local regulations.
- Reviews and interprets all federal and state regulation to stay in compliance.
- Coordinates data needed in order to complete the fiscal operation and application reports, student financial aid summary reports and other reports as needed.
- Manages the submission of the Pell Grant data to the Department of Education and ensures awards balance with Business Office records.
- Counsels and helps students determine possible financial aid opportunities and available tax credits, and assists them with the application process.
- Administers and oversees the SEOG, College Work-Study program, including calculating SEOG and Work-Study allocation.
- Supervises the awarding of alternative loans and ensures compliance.
- Supervises the Scholarship application process and ensures compliance with guidelines.
- Counsels students requesting professional judgment decisions, determines if judgment is needed, and processes corrections accordingly.
- Monitors the academic progress of all financial aid students.
- Supervises the reviewing and processing of all consortium requests from other schools.
- Supervises the awarding of all NC grants.
- Supervises all Return of Title IV Funds (R2T4) for students who completely withdraw from school, reviews and approves all overpayment letters, and reviews the updates to student’s accounts.
- Completes and submits federal and state reporting to include IPEDS, NCHED, FISAP, Gain Employment, and Participation Agreement.
- Administers appeals process related to SAP. Establish appeals committee and appeal guidelines. Train appeals committee and ensure they follow procedural and regulatory requirements. Counsels students on available options.
- Work with Comptroller and Business Office to ensure accurate and timely exchange of information and awards between school information systems. Conducts and oversees the reconciliation process.
- Coordinates internal reconciliation efforts and report to reviewing entities, such as internal EAGLE assessment, external auditors, program reviewers, and accreditation teams.
- Counsels and assists students with all special circumstances that may cause changes to their financial aid requirements.
- Supervises the management of the Financial Aid OnBase document imaging system.
- Determines annual attendance cost for students and coordinates the update of Federal Net-Price Calculator.
- Attends conferences, meetings, and workshops to obtain up-to-date information and regulations pertaining to Financial Aid and Veterans Affairs.
- Serves on various committees and conducts High School workshops as requested.
- Prepares and monitors the departmental budget and expense reports.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
