Operations Manager

About the Role: We are seeking a dynamic Operations Manager to lead a turnaround effort at a growing food distribution company. This position offers quick growth potential into a Director-level role for high-performing candidates. In this newly created position, you’ll be tasked with overhauling transportation, logistics, and warehouse operations to improve efficiency and performance. This role is ideal for a hands-on leader who thrives on solving problems and driving change. Key Responsibilities:
- Lead Transportation and Logistics Operations: Oversee daily transportation activities with a focus on improving route efficiency and customer deliveries. Implement automated routing systems and ensure drivers meet schedules and performance goals.
- Oversee Fleet and DOT Compliance: Ensure the fleet remains compliant with DOT regulations, including maintaining accurate safety logs, records, and timely vehicle maintenance. Address any issues promptly to keep the fleet in top condition.
- Team Leadership: Directly manage a Warehouse Manager and a Logistics Manager, along with a team of 20 drivers and 10 warehouse staff. Provide hands-on leadership to foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
- Warehouse Operations: Streamline warehouse activities, ensuring accurate receiving, storage, and shipping processes. Optimize warehouse layout to maximize space and maintain inventory accuracy.
- Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to increase operational efficiency. Focus on solving bottlenecks, reducing costs, and improving workflows.
- Customer Delivery Management: Ensure timely and accurate deliveries to customers across a six-day delivery schedule. Collaborate with sales and customer service teams to meet customer expectations and address delivery-related issues.
- New Business Integration: Assist with integrating future acquisitions into existing operations and support the expansion of distribution services.
What We’re Looking For:
- BS/BA is required or an equivalent of 7 years of operations distribution leadership experience
- 5 years of experience in transportation, logistics, or distribution management, preferably within the food manufacturing or perishable goods industry.
- Proven track record of leading turnaround efforts and driving operational improvements.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team.
- Experience with automated routing systems such as Samsara or Omnitracs.
- Knowledge of DOT compliance and fleet management.
- Problem-solving mindset with a hands-on approach to leadership.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with food distribution and perishable products is a plus.

Salary : $100,000 - $120,000
