Position Summary
This position is a hybrid role that covers all Project Management requirements but allows the individual to shift from the office to the field as workload and project demands dictate. This person shall identify and development relationships with customers resulting in growth opportunities, evaluate potential work feasibility, prepare quotations/proposals, control specific projects to achieve on-time, high-quality, profitable performance, work onsite as lead superintendent when required and ensure safe work practices are adhered to.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Help out in many areas of the company as required during start-up phase
- Develop relationships with existing and potential new customers in order to achieve steady growth.
- Review potential projects to confirm Kelley feasibility according to SOW.
- Coordinate project management activities for material procurement and delivery, effective utilization of labor hours and overall project performance to meet/exceed quoted cost performance.
- Effectively allocate existing workforce and coordinate securing additional staffing as required according to projects demand.
- Conduct regular job site visits to ensure safety rules and work practices are being followed and document Walk Through report of such visits.
- Ensure appropriate paperwork is submitted to Kennett office in a timely manner for each project.
- Monitor job costs, coordinate billing activities and support receivables collection as required.
- Able and willing to secure licenses/certifications required to obtain Electrical Contractor Licenses.
- Prepare and administer Performance Reviews for direct reports and field electricians.
- Actively participate in the business planning process including creation of budget assumptions.
- Effectively represent Kelley/Townsend core values and reputation in a positive, professional manner and ensure each crew does the same.
- Ensure proper usage and maintenance of equipment and tools.
- Ensure crews have the appropriate tools, equipment and training to safely and efficiently perform the required tasks for assigned projects.
- Understand and comply/enforce all company policies and procedures.
- Maintain open communication with appropriate Superintendents, other Project Manager/Estimators, and Kelley senior management.
- Attend internal and external training courses which pertain to improving and developing job related business management, leadership, and operational skills.
- Perform all other duties as assigned by the Area Manager.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Must provide management and leadership to Superintendents and other field electricians who have been assigned responsibility for specific projects.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Must have legal authorization to work in the United States of America or other countries as may be required.
- Must pass a drug/alcohol screen upon offer of employment.
- Must maintain a valid driver’s license.
- May be required to pass a physical abilities test/post offer screen for employment.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Must possess knowledge of such electrical contracting needs as MCC, high voltage, underground service and general equipment knowledge.
- Must have a strong working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC).
- Ability to manage compliance issues (OSHA, MSHA, First Aid/CPR, PPE, random drug/alcohol screens, etc.).
- Ability to read and comprehend requests for bid/quote, work orders, electrical drawings, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to communicate with others at all levels of the organization and to assimilate and understand information in a manner consistent with essential job functions.
- Ability to professionally communicate with the customer and the public.
- Knowledge and compliance with company safety and disciplinary programs.
- Demonstrate knowledge of personnel problem solving techniques.
- Ability to utilize at least basic skills of Microsoft Word and Excel.
Education/Experience
- Minimum of high school diploma.
- Must have at least Ten (10) years of electrical contracting field experience.
Work location: Orlando Florida area
Pay range: $120,000 - $130,000 yr
