Position: Audio Visual (AV) Specialist
Job Description:
The general role of the sound engineer will be the coordination, production and maintenance of AV related matters; including technology, hardware, inventories, records, streaming and other issues that help drive the achievement of the church’s mission and vision.
The AV specialist should be able to work expeditiously in a fast-paced setting and be willing to collaborate proactively and eff ectively with volunteers in the church’s AV department.
Responsibilities:
The responsibilities of the AV specialist include but are not limited to the following:
- Set up, test and troubleshoot sound, light and other AV equipment before services, rehearsals, and events
- Mix audio for front-of-house (FOH), stage monitors, and livestreams, ensuring proper stereo balance, width and clarity
- Enhance sound quality using audio eff ects and resolve any technical issues quickly as they arise
- Ensure all equipment are ready to go for services and events
- Maintain all AV equipment (microphones, in ears etc.) ensuring they are well taken care of and put back in place when no longer in use
- Work with the AV team to plan for all audio needs of the service and production
- Perform sound check for all musicians, singers, ministers etc.
- Manage AV equipment such as mixer, cameras, microphones, cables, speakers etc.
- Ability to conduct sound engineering related training
- Performs continuous research and consulting for upgrades
- Actively search for new products/equipment/solutions, provide quotes and facilitate purchase or rentals as needed
- Test, service and upgrade media hardware and software
- Conduct research and source information from other churches and event centers about ways to improve/upgrade our technology, systems and equipment
- Have an open availability during weekends and special events as needed
Required Skills:
- 3 years of live sound engineering experience
- Technical expertise in sound engineering techniques (EQ, compression, eff ects etc.)
- Experience with digital mixers and recording software (Allen and Heath SQ-7 and Logic Pro)
- Experience with handling media and allied technology-related equipment and software including sound boards & consoles, lighting & graphic software, video switchers
- Profi ciency with video switchers, cameras, signal routing
- Excellent communication skills and team player
- Fast problem solving abilities
- Good time management
- Demonstrated ability to thrive and mature in a team environment
- Ability to handle multiple projects effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Advanced understanding of various streaming services

Job Salary - Compensation based on experience
Schedule - Sundays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and special church programs
Job Type - Part-time (Max. 20 hours per week)
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
Expected hours: No more than 20 per week
Schedule:
- 4 hour shift
- Every weekend
