Benefits to you
- The annual salary for this position begins at $105,204.
- We pay 95% to 99% of medical insurance premiums for full-time employees.
- We provide 10 paid holidays, 2 floating holidays, 3 personal business days each year; separate sick and vacation paid leaves, and other employee benefits such as optional insurances and flexible spending plans.
- OJD will pay you a 5% allowance for bilingual skills (includes ASL) if you can pass a skills test and are assigned to use those skills on the job.

Location Highlights
This position is for the Oregon Supreme Court, which is Oregon’s highest court and appellate court of last resort. The court is housed in Salem in the over 100-year-old Oregon Supreme Court Building, just east of the Oregon Capitol Building. The Supreme Court Building also houses the State of Oregon Law Library, the Appellate Courts Records Office, and the Court of Appeals Appellate Commissioner's Office. The Supreme Court has seven justices, including one Chief Justice.
Position Highlights
The
Oregon Supreme Court
is hiring a Court Manager 1.
In this role, you will be responsible for all the Oregon Supreme Court's administrative operations, and you will be the face of the court in all interactions with others outside the court. A short summary of the key duties this position entails is as follows:
COURT OPERATIONS
You will be responsible for regularly communicating with the court's administrative team and Records Office staff about protocols and procedural details relating to case routing and assignments, court conferences, and court public meetings; tracking, coordinating, and ensuring accurate processing of pending matters and court orders; and assessing and developing court process improvements. You will monitor system data entry in the court's case management system, confirm and develop system protocols, and work with the court's lead analyst on data protocols, court reporting, and statistics.
COURT ADMINISTRATION
You will serve as a resource to the Chief Justice and the full court, as well as to all court staff, on a wide range of topics. You will serve as the court's liaison to the Appellate Court Records Office, the Office of the State Court Administrator (OSCA), the OJD Marshal's Office, and other OSCA divisions, including human resources and enterprise technology. You will participate in court leadership, planning, and coordination with the Chief Justice. You will be responsible for identifying and working to resolve issues relating to the court's facilities, security, and technology. You will be responsible for the court's accounts payable and receivable, and annual inventory of court assets. You will be responsible for the court's budget, capital and technology requisitions, and coordinating special projects. You will be responsible for delegating and assigning certain tasks to administrative staff.
PERSONNEL
You will serve as the administrative authority for all the court's staff except the Appellate Legal Counsel, and you will serve as the day-to-day supervisor for the court's administrative staff. You will assess performance and implement improvement strategies as needed. You will monitor and evaluate the Supreme Court's personnel budget and assess position and reclassification needs. You will serve as a hiring manager for administrative staff recruitment and work with the Human Resource Services Division to create and draft job postings, and to draft and update position descriptions. You will provide training and orientation for new staff and assess the need for any new or ongoing training, and serve as the lead in coordinating justice transitions. You will serve as the court's expert and resource regarding the Judicial Department Personnel Rules and also will serve as the court's Workday system lead.

Minimum Qualifications

The qualified candidate must have a bachelor’s degree in Public or Business Administration, Accounting, Criminal Justice, Criminology, Sociology, Psychology, Public Health, Behavioral Science, Social Services, or a related field.
AND
At least three (3) or more years’ experience managing - either directly or through lead workers or lower-level supervisors - staff who perform administrative, analytical, technical, or professional-level duties. The management experience must include most or all the following:
- Developing and implementing policies and procedures;
- Hiring or recommending hiring;
- Assigning and reviewing work;
- Evaluating performance;
- Responding to staff concerns;
- Handling disciplinary actions;
- Participating in organizational development; and
- Assisting with the development and management of budgets.

education and experience

Working Conditions
- This is a full-time position, and the work schedule is 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. This position is FSLA-exempt and not eligible for overtime compensation for hours worked in excess of 40 per work week.
- Occasional after-hours work may be required.
- Initially, the person in this position must work either four or five days on-site each week, with any "hybrid" work occurring on a set schedule. The Chief Justice may approve an alternative hybrid work schedule, requiring only three days on-site each week on a set schedule, after an established initial work period.
- Frequent phone, email, and in-person contact with people from diverse backgrounds, including widely varied educational or professional backgrounds.
