POSITION CONCEPT:
This position oversees the annual corporate giving campaign, works with Acadiana advisory Board and staff to identify and rank prospects, assign accounts to volunteers to open doors, oversee operations of the general campaign, implement fundraising events, cultivates fundraisers/volunteers, grows individual giving, completes grants to support JA and maintains contributor database. This position also researches and identifies special projects to fund and researches and evaluates new fundraising techniques to determine effectiveness in JA. The Development Director serves as a liaison to advisory board task force groups and works with Development Specialist to complete logistics for events. Financials will be managed between Development Director, Operations Manager, VP of Development and President.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Organizes and implements a successful corporate giving campaign utilizing the advisory Board of Directors and community leadership to ensure annual goal expectations. Clarifies, ranks and assigns prospects to appropriate volunteers to open doors for JA. Follows up regularly with all assigned prospects through strategic communications, co-creates annual reports and ensures partner benefits are provided . Regularly recognizes leadership and donors.
2. Assists in creating the annual budget for Acadiana and is responsible for managing the local budget.
3. Research, explore, and write grants to support fundraising efforts.
4. Research and identifies foundations and individuals whose interest and priorities match JA projects needing funding. Working with Development Specialist, develops and updates necessary tools for successful funding, i.e; brochures, graphs, PowerPoints etc.
5. Assures that information of event contributors and prospects is operational and accurate.
6. Works closely with all advisory board taskforces to carry out their specific functions.
7. Direct/completes preparation for Board Committee Meetings.
8. Schedule and secure an average of 4 new external meetings to take place each week to follow up on asks that are out and/or explore funding/volunteer opportunities.
9. Works collaboratively with all departments to ensure JA is utilizing all resources.
10. Works with the Operations Manager to ensure fundraising materials and/or logistical supplies are stocked in advance.
11. Ensures proper coding for event expenses and receivables.
12. Negotiates contracts for events with VP of Development and vendors
Development Director Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree desired and/or three years of equivalent experience required. Foundation knowledge is appreciated. The ability to manage multiple priorities is a self-starter and has strong interpersonal and oral/written communication skills. Organizational/planning skills and data management skills a must. Computer literacy in Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Canva. Ability to lift 30lbs.
